Arkansas has 11 designated scenic byways, three of which also carry national status. The state’s program, run by ARDOT with input from local groups and the Arkansas Scenic Resources Preservation Coordinating Committee, safeguards routes with scenic, historic, and cultural value. A recent addition, the Camden Expedition Scenic Byway, ties together key Civil War sites and communities.
